I ask you what do you do for self-care? What is self-care you ask? I was not taught that at school, I was taught Maths, English, Science even Religious Education but not self-care, what is it?
Well, let me share with you one of the world’s best kept secrets. If you visualise metaphorically you have two pots inside of yourself, a rubbish pot and a self-care pot. Each day there is a lot of rubbish going into the rubbish pot. An example of this would be you get out of bed and stub your toe, then go to the fridge and there is no milk for a cup of tea, accident on the way to work so motorway closed and you are late for work and then a member of your family dies. A fact of life is there are always small, medium and large things going into this rubbish pot.
So I ask you, now get the idea of how this works. What goes in the self-care pot to counter balance this? I have heard people say “I went on holiday six months ago” or “We go out for a meal once a month” and more common I hear “Nothing goes in mine”. Well in order to maintain mental and physical well-being in your life, there have to be small, medium and large delights going into the self-care pot. This is what we at Aspire You specialise in. There is no such thing as a mid-life crisis….. It is our inability to take care of ourselves by filling up our self-care pot daily.
